Check that a business name is available
You can consult the Infogreffe database free of charge. This database contains all registrations with Greffes des tribunaux de commerce (Commercial Court Registries) and provides details of corporate names, business names and commercial names registered with the Registre du commerce et des sociétés (Trade and Companies Register, RCS).
Check that a trademark is available
You can consult the database of the Institut national de la propriété industrielle (INPI, French Patent and Trademark Office), free of charge, to check whether a commercial name, trademark or business name used as a trademark is available. The INPI is the Government-owned institution which issues patents, licences trademarks and designs and provides information on every aspect of industrial property and businesses. Check that an Internet domain name is available
Visit the website of the Association française pour le nommage Internet en coopération (AFNIC, French Network Information Centre) which keeps a register of .fr domain names. (The AFNIC’s website [FR])
